How to Download Video from Facebook on Any Device
Downloading a video from Facebook allows you to have your own copy on your phone or computer. This way you can easily share it without having to scroll through your news feed. Here’s how to download a video from Facebook to your Windows or Mac computer, iPhone, or Android device.
How to download video from Facebook to computer in high quality
You can download a video from Facebook as long as it is publicly available. Windows, Mac, and Android users simply need to copy the video link and edit it, while iPhone users need to use a third-party app like MyMedia.
Facebook also has a save video option that appears when you tap the three-dot icon at the top of the video post. However, this doesn’t actually save the video to your device, just to the app so you can watch it later.
How to Download Facebook Video to Your Computer
To download a Facebook video to your computer, right-click on it and select Show video URL. Then paste the URL into a new tab and replace www with mbasic. Finally, right-click on it and select Save video as…
- Log in to Facebook on your computer. You can do this on any browser.
- Open the video you want to download. You will need to start playing the video.
- Then right-click on the video. This will bring up a context menu with play, mute, and video URL.
- Next, click Show video URL.
- Copy the URL that appears above the video. You can do this by pressing Ctrl + C on a Windows keyboard or Command + C on a Mac. You can also right-click on the URL and select Copy.
- Open another tab in your browser and paste the URL into the address bar. You can do this by pressing Ctrl + V on a Windows keyboard or Command + V on a Mac computer. You can also right-click and select “Paste.” Do not press Enter on your keyboard at this point.
- Replace www in the URL with mbasic. You can do this by selecting the text with your mouse and pressing “Delete” on your keyboard. Then type or paste mbasic where www was. So your new URL should start with https://mbasic.facebook.com/…
- Then press Enter on your keyboard. This will open a new page.
- Next, click on the video you want to download. This will open another page with a full-page black video player.
- Right click on the video and select Save Video As.
- Finally, choose a name and destination for your video and click “Save”. You can then open the file with any media player that recognizes MP4 files.
How to Download Facebook Video on Android
To download a video from Facebook on Android, tap on the three dots icon on the video and copy the link. Then paste the link into your browser and replace www with mbasic. Then long press on the video and select Download Video.
- Open the Facebook app on your Android device. You will need to log in to your account if you haven't already.
- Find the video you want to download.
- Then click on the three dots icon above the video.
- Next, select Copy Link from the menu that appears.
- Open the browser app on your device and paste the link into the address bar. You can do this by tapping the address bar and selecting “Paste.”
- Replace www with mbasic in the URL. So the URL should start with https://mbasic.facebook.com/…
- Then press Go on the on-screen keyboard.
- Then click on the video. You may need to log back into your Facebook account at this point.
- Then long press on the video on the next page. You will see the context menu appear.
- Next, tap Download Video. You may need to allow Chrome to access your photos, media, and files. Tap Allow to continue.
- After the download is complete, click “Open” to watch the video. You will see it at the bottom of your screen.
You can find the video you downloaded by going to the Files app on your home screen, then tapping Downloads. The recently uploaded video should be at the top of the list.
How to Download Videos from Facebook to iPhone
To download a video from Facebook to your iPhone, tap “Share” on the video, then “Copy Link.” Then use the MyMedia app to go to fbdown.net, paste the link, and tap “Download File.” Next, go to the “Media” tab and tap “Save to Camera Roll.”
- Download the MyMedia – File Manager app. You can find this app in the Apple App Store.
- Next, open the Facebook app on your iPhone.
- Find the video you want to download and click the share button. You will find it below the video.
- Then tap the chain link icon. You can find it in the top right corner of the share menu, next to the three dots icon. Once done, the Facebook app will close the menu and return to the video. You’ll see a message that says “Copied,” followed by a check mark.
- Open MyMedia – File Manager app.
- Then type fbdown.net into the search bar at the top of the screen. If you don't see this, scroll up.
- Then press “Go” on the keyboard that appears on your phone screen.
- Next, paste the video URL into the text box. Once the website loads, click on the text box and select Paste.
- Then click Download. This will open another page with a thumbnail of your video.
- Next, click More Options. Do not click any other buttons on the page.
- Then tap Force SD Download or Force HD Download. SD stands for standard definition, while HD stands for high definition.
- Next, select Upload File.
- Choose a file name for your video, then click Save.
- Wait for the download to complete. The app will open in the “Download” tab. You will see a progress bar with the file name, file size, and download duration. Once the download is complete, the progress bar will disappear.
- Then press “Back” in the upper right corner of the app.
- Next, tap on Media. You can find it at the bottom of the app.
- Click on the video you just downloaded.
- Tap Save to Camera Roll. You can then find your video in your Photos app.
